DESCRIPTION: Seth Thomas, Plymouth, Conn., C. 1828 30-hour wood movement quarter column & splat shelf clock. Short pendulum movement with an early style label. Note S. Thomas produced this early long case with arched splat under full influence of the pillar and scroll, and this must be the earliest long case stenciled column he made, certainly pre-1830, and it is correct with short movement. From the collection of Chris Bailey.
CONDITION: Mahogany veneered case in an old and possibly original finish with some minor veneer loss at the right corner of the base. One of the side returns has been replaced. There is one original dust cap. Original painted dial, stenciling, dial, hands and mirror. Very clean label inside case. Ht. 35"
